Parent Drop in
Dear Parent/Carer,
I am writing to you to introduce myself. My name is Emma Atkinson. My role within Delta Independent School is to provide Mental Health and Wellbeing support to students who are identified in needing additional support whilst at Delta.
I have recently been appointed to my new role as, Designated Mental Health Lead for Delta Independent School. I am currently reviewing and implementing a new Mental Health and Wellbeing Policy. Delta have introduced an Action Group to help plan and implement a new mental health and wellbeing plan across the whole school community. This helps establish parents and school’s commitment to the new plan and improve and support mental health and wellbeing across the whole of Delta. Parents/carers are advised that they are welcome to attend. Details of the next meeting can be obtained from emailing my email address below or school telephone line.
I believe it is crucial parents/carers play a role in our students’ engagement and achievements during school along with the whole school community having a voice to be heard around our student’s general wellbeing.
I would like parents/carers to be actively involved in their children’s mental health and wellbeing and be reassured that at Delta we have an open-door policy where parents/carers can contact me with any concerns for their child. My contact details are below.
As part of out new Policy, Delta Independent School are providing a monthly Drop-in session. This invitation offers parents/carers an opportunity to meet with me and a member of our Senior Leadership Team to discuss any concerns relating to their child’s mental health and wellbeing and any general concerns relating to their academic performance. This Drop in is different to our Parents evening. I want to reassure parents/carers that we can also sign post parents to support services Telephone appointments can also be booked for those parents/carers who cannot attend our school premises.
