Dear Parent/Carer,

As a part of your child's education at Delta Independent School, we promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education programme. PSHE education is the curriculum subject that gives children the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe, healthy, productive lives and meet their full potential.

I am writing to let you know, over the next academic year, starting in January 2021 your child’s class will be taking part in lessons which will focus on the relationships and sex education (RSE) aspect of this programme.

Lessons in year 9 will include pupils learning about; relationships including friends, families and marriage; sexual and gender stereotyping; safer online relationships; puberty, reproduction and pregnancy and STIs and contraception. Pupils will also have the opportunity to ask questions.

PSHE education is taught throughout the school in every year group and is monitored and reviewed regularly by the staff and governing body. All PSHE teaching takes place in a safe learning environment and is underpinned by our school ethos and values.

As a school community, we are committed to working in partnership with parents and if you would like to find out more about what your child will learn, view the materials and resources being used in lessons and discover how you can best support your child to discuss these topics at home, please don't hesitate to contact the school. If you would like to discuss any concerns or highlight any areas you think are important please note these on the page provided and return them to the school. Alternatively you can contact me by email at kirk@deltaindependent.school or ring on 01207502680.

Yours sincerely,

K.Newman
